Bass tuba 1/2 - Brass orchestra - Philipp Dangas

Bass tuba 1/2 - Brass orchestra [ octave combinations ]

General information about the octave combinations with the bass tuba

Bass instruments with a strong sound come into consideration. The double bass would be an example. But the cello is also part of it. And last but not least the bassoon as well as the contrabassoon. For pure sound massages, the trombone can also be used.

The bass tuba as part of the „symphonic world music“

The main partners of the bass tuba are the low strings and above all the double basses. An octave combination of bass tuba and double bass produces sound intensity. A heavily populated upper octave can thus achieve a homogeneous overall sound.

Example of octave combination [ Bass tuba - Bass tuba ]

The following is an example of the completely homogeneous sound effect (sound merging). An octave connection between bass tubas. One bass tuba in the lower octave. And the other bass tuba in the upper octave. From  Richard Strauss' work "Also, Spoke Zarathustra".
